Drive-by visit parade helps Westby residents connect during social distancing
Westby Fire, Police, joined family members for the parade
WESTBY, Wis. (WKBT) – It’s been a rough couple of weeks since the “Safer at Home” order went into effect.
A lot of us are stuck at home without a whole lot to do but there is another group that may be feeling more disconnected than the rest of us.
Many residents like the ones at Norseland Nursing home haven’t been able to see their family members at all.
So Thursday, the staff at Norseland in Westby came up with a drive-by visit parade.
Not only did family get involved, but so did many others in the comunity.
“So we had about 48 family members signed-up to show up and then we had the Westby Fire Department, the police department, first responders and other local organizations,” said Angealic Kaye with Norseland Nursing Home.
March 13th was the last time many of these residents got to see their family members.
The nursing home is planning more creative visits for the future.
