Downtown Mainstreet receives national accreditation

Downtown Mainstreet, Inc. named a National Main Street Program

A La Crosse organization is getting some national attention.

Downtown Mainstreet is being designated as an accredited National Main Street Program. It’s the latest honor for the group, after being named a Wisconsin Main Street Program last year.

The Wisconsin program works with the National Main Street Center to identify the best local programs in the state.

Downtown Mainstreet Executive Director Robin Moses says the national accreditation will help continue the city’s growth.

“Downtown La Crosse right now is undergoing kind of a new renaissance and it’s an exciting time for us, to have these new resources available to us, because we’re growing,” said Moses. “We’re growing by leaps and bounds. We have new hotels, new restaurants, new retail stores, and many new construction developments that are coming up.”

Downtown Mainstreet was created in 1990.
