Donation matching to help La Crescent Area Event Center

A new fundraiser will help a new community space.

An anonymous donor will match a $500,000 of donations made today through the end of the year to the La Crescent Area Event Center.

The center, which houses La Crescent American Legion Post 595, opened to the community in May of this year.

A $35,000 donation from Post 595 helped kick off the campaign Monday morning.

The fundraiser will go towards paying off the mortgage for the space.

After just a few months, the center is making a big impact for community members.

“Just since early June, we’ve had like 35 non-profit organizations using the facility, a lot of banquets, and we’ve had up to 60 events going on so far, there has been over 8,000 people through the building since June 1st,” said Don Hill, La Crescent Area Event Center board treasurer.

Donations can be made on the event center’s website.
