Donation drive supports bringing new K-9 officer to La Crosse Police
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A donation drive is getting tails wagging in our area.
The ‘Donuts for Donations’ drive, hosted by radio station 95.7 The Rock, was at three locations in La Crosse Wednesday.
Money raised by the drive will help the La Crosse Police to get and train a new K-9 officer.
Donors could enjoy free donuts and meet the departments K-9 officers.
The drive was needed after K-9 Officer Zaback was forced to retire in September due to an injury.
The community makes the program possible.
“This does not happen without the community. We have a small budget in our program with the city for the dogs but this overall does not happen without the community involvement for our K-9 unit,” said La Crosse Police officer Dakota Jelinski.
95.7 The Rock is taking donations for the campaign on the station’s website.
