Donarski, Weisbrod picking up where last season left off

To girls basketball now, the coaches have Aquinas ranked number one in Division 4, and the Blugolds have already done a good job testing themselves in non-conference games.

Aquinas has already played schools from Iowa and Minnesota in a tournament last weekend, going 1-1, and then Tuesday night used a big second half to out-play Platteville.

The Blugolds are at their best when Division I-bound Macy Donarski and Jacy Weisbrod hit their shots and can complement each other on the floor.

“I think Jacy and I are always in the gym, always looking for each other to get shots up, so I think the chemistry is definitely there,” said Donarski, “and the way we’re able to play off each other is something really special.”

“We’ve been really close the last couple years, so it’s at an all-time high right now,” said Weisbrod.

Weisbrod leads the team averaging 22 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Donarski is right behind her, averaging 21.8 points per game, along with team-high averages in assists (7.2) and steals (3.2).

Aquinas will host Tomah Thursday night at 7:15.
