Disabled vets get their groove back on the golf course

TOMAH, Wis. — Disabled veterans at the Tomah VA Medial center get a chance to enjoy a round of golf, thanks to the
help of some golf pros.

The Tomah VA Medical Center hosted a golf clinic Monday for disabled veterans. Members of the National Amputee Golf
Association and local PGA pros worked with the veterans to either learn, or re-learn the game of golf.

Mike Sapp recently had his foot amputated. He says he used to really enjoy golfing, and this clinic helped show him
that he can still do it.

“I always knew I could do it,” Sapp says. “It’s just a matter of having support there to do it. I think it is as
much as anything. To help you with the confidence, not only if I want to do this, but if I want to do anything.”

Tomah VA therapists also say the golf clinic helps promote exercise and wellness, while improving strength and
balance.
