Disability Action Network to host ‘Disability Pride Fest’ Saturday at Copeland Park in La Crosse

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — A weekend event aims to celebrate people with all abilities during Disability Pride Month.

The Disability Action Network, or DAN, will be hosting Disability Pride Fest from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Copeland Park.

The event celebrates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act 32 years ago.

The event will feature activities for people of all abilities including bingo, yoga, and musical performances.

All activities will be under a shelter to avoid both the sun and rain.

DAN is hosting an additional event Sunday at Trane All Abilities Park. This event gives kids and their families an opportunity to celebrate inclusion.

The two events precede DAN’s No Limits: Ability Awareness Week, occurring from July 23 to July 29.

“The event will provide community members the opportunity to build relationships, and raise awareness for the challenges facing people with disabilities and their support network,” said DAN board member Nate Hundt.

More information is on DAN’s website, including an event calendar, resources and ways to get involved. You can also check for updates on DAN’s Facebook page.
