DHS: La Crosse County reports 22nd death, 107 new COVID-19 cases

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A 22nd La Crosse County resident has died of COVID-19, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported Friday.

No information on the patient was available due to privacy laws.

DHS reported an additional 107 test-confirmed cases of the virus in La Crosse County, bringing the total to 4,473 since March.

New cases include:

  • 5 people aged 10-19;
  • 27 people in their 20s;
  • 12 people in their 30s;
  • 23 people in their 40s;
  • 17 people in their 50s;
  • 14 people in their 60s;
  • 7 people in their 70s; and,
  • 2 people in their 80s.

The number of positive cases and deaths caused by COVID-19 continues to climb in Wisconsin Friday, with the governor and other state officials imploring residents to wear a mask and do what it takes to stop the spread.

State health officials said 24 more people have died from coronavirus complications since Thursday, bringing the death toll in Wisconsin to 1,972. Another 5,096 people have tested positive in the last day.

Despite the climbing numbers, Gov. Tony Evers said local clerks and poll workers are prepared to handle in-person voters safely Tuesday and have adequate supplies.
