Democratic Party of Wisconsin hosts Virtual State Convention
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Due to the pandemic, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin’s 2020 State Convention is going virtual.
On Friday night people could join in on the live-streamed event.
There were remarks from Wisconsin elected officials including Governor Tony Evers, Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes, snd U.S. Representative Ron Kind.
Former Vice President Joe Biden and former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders also spoke during the event.
Although people missed the chance to see Biden and others in person, this gave everyone an opportunity to take part in something they normally may not be able to attend.
“So many more people might be interested in watching it because it is online and free to watch, unlike the process of having to go to the Dells and get the proper credentials and registrations and stuff like that,” said Anthony Chergosky, UWL Assistance Professor of Political Science.
The election of DNC members was also part of the virtual event.
