Delta Air Lines ending direct flight between La Crosse and Detroit
Final flights set for January 9th.
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A direct flight from La Crosse to Detroit is ending soon.
La Crosse Regional Airport officials confirm to News 8 Now that the final flight will be January 9th.
Delta Airlines added the route in March of 2019 following a $750,000 grant from the Department of Transportation.
It has been the most popular destination from La Crosse in recent months.
“That performance indicates to us that it is a viable service. Unfortunately now, the airlines industry is going through a lot of changes,” said La Crosse Regional Airport executive director Ian Turner.
Turner who you just heard from says they do hope to bring the route back in the future.
In the mean time, the change is forcing some travelers to rethink their travel plans.
“I’ll have to travel to either Minneapolis or Madison to catch a flight,” said traveler Eric Poole.
Travelers will still be able to get to Detroit by connecting through Minneapolis or Chicago from La Crosse.
