Davis ready for greater leadership role with Badger hoops

Wisconsin men’s basketball features plenty of new faces with the start of fall practice.

About half the roster is comprised of newcomers, five of them freshmen. The expectation is it’ll take this group some time to figure out how to play with each other, so in these first few weeks, the team’s looking to guys like Brad Davison and La Crosse’s own Jonathan Davis.

“I’m going to have to take on more of a leadership role this year,” Davis said Monday during the program’s Media Day. “We have a lot of guys who haven’t even participated in a collegiate game yet, so they’re going to need a few guys to lean on, and I’m going to be one of them.”

Davis shot 44 percent from the floor in his first season in Madison while putting up seven points and four rebounds per game.

The Badgers have their annual red and white scrimmage set for next Sunday at 4 p.m.
