‘Dare to Self-Care’ kicks off Domestic Violence Awareness Month

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The REACH Center hosted a ‘Dare to Self-Care’ event today to help community members destress.

The event included self-care stations, therapy dogs, and shopping from women, LGBTQ vendors and vendors of color.

Event organizers say self-care and mental health are an important part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

“Our mental health is so incredibly important to us whether we are victims or survivors of abuse or not, but even more so when we are experiencing trauma in your life whether it was in the past or currently, so just taking a few moments for yourself,” said Heidi Svee, the director of programming and personnel at New Horizons.
