Dance Marathon helps local children with health problems

Volunteers danced the night away at Viterbo University. The Viterbo Mathy Center in La Crosse hosted the fourth annual Dance Marathon to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Dancers started at 3:00 p.m. Saturday and continued dancing until 10:00 p.m.

The event is put on by the Miracle at Viterbo Club. The club works with Gundersen Health System, and all of the funds the club raises will help families in our community struggling with childhood illnesses.

The event is the grand finale of the club’s efforts each year.

“Last year we raised about $7,500, so this year our goal is $10,000. And we’re getting close to that, so we’re doing one final, big push this evening to try and reach as close to that goal as possible,” said Ashley Kurash, the vice president of the Miracle at Viterbo Club.

Organizers say the Children’s Miracle Network helps families in our community regardless of which hospital they go to. These families receive meal vouchers, gas assistance, adaptive equipment and more.
