Crews still working to restore power in parts of La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis.- Work continues in La Crosse to restore power to the neighborhoods that were hit the hardest.

Xcel Energy says around 1,000 customers on the south side of La Crosse still didn’t have power as of 9:30 p.m.
Monday night. Crews were working to get it restored by midnight.

However, if your home’s meter was damaged or if it’s pulled away from the house, you need to contact an electrician
for repairs and have your home inspected by a city inspector before power can be reconnected. “What we don’t want to
do is energize the power to your home and have an unsafe condition that would cause a fire or something so those are
real important steps,” says Mike Herro of Xcel Energy.

Xcel Energy crews are not licensed to make these types of repairs so home owners will need to have an inspection
certificate signed by an electrical inspector before power can be restored.
