Crashes on La Crosse County highways continue to see decrease year-to-year

Crashes on La Crosse County roads are decreasing.

That’s from Wednesday’s Highway Safety Commission meeting.

Data from the organization shows the number of crashes fell from about eight hundred in 2006 to just over six hundred last year.

The County Sheriff’s Office says speed, drinking and driving, and crossing the center line were the major causes in many of those accidents. County leaders want to see the numbers continue to fall and ask people keep safe driving techniques in mind.

“Distance, pay attention to how you’re driving, speed is a big factor in a majority of them. People have to pay attention and slow down,” said La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Mark Patterson.
