Crash kills two in Holmen

HOLMEN, Wis. — Two men who graduated from Holmen High School are killed in a rollover caused by alcohol and speed.

Samuel Haug and Ethan Anderson, both 21 years old and 2009 graduates of Holmen High School, died in the crash on County Road XX just south of Briggs Road.

Deputies were called to the scene at around 6:00 a.m. Friday, but the crash may have happened hours earlier.

The men were driving north on County Road XX when their vehicle crossed the center line and rolled multiple times.

It’s not clear who was driving, but the passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle. The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was found inside the vehicle.

Law enforcement closed XX between Briggs and Remus Roads for nearly three hours.

The Holmen School District is no stranger to tragic events. Prior to Friday’s crash, 10 Holmen students, or recent graduates had died since 2005.

Holmen High School student Ben Fiers crashed his vehicle Christmas Eve and survived. Fiers was severely injured, but has been making progress in his recovery.
