Cranky Christmas mascot spreads holiday cheer
Monroe County display says it all about 2020
SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT)- Monroe County employees are spreading holiday cheer, by taking part in a decorating contest. Their trees are on display outside the Justice Center.
Lights and tinsel go a long way when making green space merry and bright. Monroe County employees using a lot to “Deck the County”. A gesture of community at a time when we are apart. “We want to make sure we are spreading cheer throughout the county.”, explains Executive Administrative Specialist, Adrian Lockington.
Holiday cheer extends from every evergreen, except one. The “pretty ladies” team from human services didn’t hold back. The put their pandemic frustration on display.
To their surprise, this cranky Christmas mascot is growing on even the grinchiest- Grinch. “This was probably for me the thing that got me into the Christmas spirit. I wasn’t feeling it.”, says Human Services employee Amanda Henthorne.
Their slogan, “2020 stink, stank, stunk”, says Darcie Hanson, is lifting spirits county-wide and bring happy back to the holidays.
A panel of judges will decide which trees are worthy of a trophy. The teams won’t find out who won until next week. The “pretty ladies” and pretty confident they will take home best in show.
