COVID-19 testing up at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse

Testing at more than doubled from a week ago

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Testing for COVID-19 is up at Mayo Clinic Health System.

A line of cars was at the testing site at the La Crosse campus Thursday.

Starting Tuesday, the System noticed an increase in testing levels.

Previously, the site would complete 100 to 150 tests a day.

Wednesday about 200 tests were completed.

And Thursday, staff from Mayo Clinic Health System say they expect to test about 250 people.

The increase is specifically noticed in a certain age range.

“We definitely have a surge right now in really the 18 to 25 year old demographic. Lots of different assumptions on that, we’re not quite sure yet, but definitely a college age group,” said Mayo Clininc Health System nurse administrator Ben Anderson.

Anyone going for testing at a local health system is asked to call ahead to be pre-screened to help the process go quicker.
