COVID-19 vaccine second doses do have some flexibility, if needed
Pfizer vaccine requires a three week period between doses, Moderna vaccine requires a four week wait
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Some people who’ve already received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine have missed their appointment to get a second dose.
The Pfizer vaccine has a three week period between doses, while the Moderna vaccine has a four week wait time.
While doctors in our area say patients should keep their immunization schedule, there is some flexibility if needed.
“Extending it by a week or two because of an emergency isn’t going to adversely effect your immune response,” said Gundersen Health System infection control team administrator Bridget Pfaff.
For Gundersen Health System, patients are asked to commit to scheduling both their first and second doses when making a vaccination appointment.
