COVID-19 cases, close contacts increasing in School District of La Crosse

There are 221 new close contacts in the district.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – La Crosse district leaders are saying carelessness is leading to an increase in COVID- 19 cases.

Superintendent Aaron Engel said in a letter Friday that the district, like many others in our area, is seeing an increase in cases.

Engel says that not following protocols is leading to the increase of students at in quarantine.

As of Friday, there are 12 new cases in the district, along with 221 new close contacts.

The new close contacts are nearly half of the close contacts in the district.

Engel said in a statement “Wearing masks in public settings and social distancing are crucial steps in limiting spread and ensuring students are able to remain in school.”
