Coulee Region RSVP hosts annual Handcrafted Open House and Raffle

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Thousands of handcrafted items to help those in need are once again available for pick-up at the Coulee Region Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) building, from Wednesday, Nov. 18 through Thursday, Nov. 19.

Coulee Region RSVP volunteers have been working all year long to create a long list of free items; afghans, quilts, baby items, scarves, cancer turbans, walker and wheelchair bags, clothing protectors, hats, mittens, masks and greeting cards. All of which is donated to those in need through local nonprofits.

This year volunteers have been able to put in extra work to provide much needed resources for the community.

“We have more than we’ve had in the past, and I think that has to do with people being in their homes and having time to make these nice, handcrafted items,” says Volunteer Coordinator, Ruth Kinstler.

There’s even some new items that haven’t been available in previous years. “Of course, we have masks and ear savers this year,” says Kinstler.

Representatives from agencies are welcome to visit the open house, located at 2920 East Avenue South, Suite 102 La Crosse, WI, and pick up items for their clients.

As a pandemic safety precaution, anyone interested in attending must register in advance by calling Coulee Region RSVP at 608-785-0500.

The Coulee Region RSVP is also raising funds for its programs through a raffle contest. The RSVP is a not-for-profit organization that provides meaningful volunteer experiences for people age 55 and older through collaboration with community organizations across La Crosse and Monroe Counties.

Raffle tickets are $1 per ticket of 6 tickets for $5.

The 1st place winner receive a handmade quilt made by Linda Hamilton.

2nd place wins a 2019 Green Bay Packer Football and Merchandise Basket.

3rd place receives “A night in La Crosse” basket.

To purchase your tickets you can email Ruth Kinstler at or call the RSVP office.
