ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) — The Coulee Region Joint Municipal Court, which serves Onalaska, Holmen, West Salem, Bangor and Campbell, will reopen for in-person initial appearances on June 22.
Individuals with appearances scheduled have been sent letters outlining new court procedures, established according to COVID-19 health officials’ guidelines.
However, those who want to avoid an in-person appearance and enter a plea can do so online here.
Anyone who is requesting a payment plan also can use the online plea form. Those who appear on their scheduled appearance nights also may fill out a plea form and submit a payment plan request, avoiding the need to stay for an in-person appearance.
Anyone who still requires an in-person appearance will be scheduled for one after the plea form is processed. Those who still want to have their in-person initial appearance on their scheduled nights may do so. Individuals pleading not guilty will complete the written plea form, and the municipal prosecutor will contact them.
Those who decide to go to court are asked to enter through the Main Street doors at the Onalaska City Hall and follow the signs. Court officials will meet people in the lobby to ensure that they follow social distancing and use hand sanitizer when they enter and leave.
Court personnel and everyone entering the lobby and courtroom area will have to wear masks, available on request.
Anyone with questions about the new court procedures may call the clerk’s office at (608) 781-9558.
