Coulee Region Humane Society welcomes seven puppies transported from overcrowded Texas shelter
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) – March 23 is National Puppy Day, and the Coulee Region Humane Society is hoping to help some puppies find their “fur”-ever home.
Shelters in Texas are overcrowded, so a national pet foundation — Bissell — is helping transport and relocate more than 130 cats and dogs to shelters across Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois.
The Coulee Region Humane Society in Onalaska took in seven dogs.
“Staff are a little bit busy today intaking all of them giving them a really good lookover,” kennel operations manager Amber Grosch said. “Most of them needed baths today just from the long travels yesterday (Tuesday).”
Grosch says some of the puppies are not spayed or neutered yet, but staff hope most of them ready for adoption by Friday.
