Coulee Christian School seeking funding for new building, expansion

WEST SALEM, Wis. (WKBT) — A community school is looking to expand.

Jennifer McKinney’s parents created Coulee Christian school 40 years ago to provide a Christian faith-based school option for their kids.

It has only grown since then– it already moved once from downtown La Crosse to its current spot in West Salem.

McKinney, whose kids now attend Coulee Christian, said the school has outgrown its current location.

“In recent years, Coulee has really seen an explosion in enrollment. In fact, there’s waiting lists now, and we could serve more students in a bigger and more modern space,” McKinney said.

Enrollment has doubled over the past year, and the school is looking to buy a new property. The school and its advocates are hoping to raise $5 million over five months for that new location.

They hope moving somewhere new will bring more space for more students, and more opportunities overall.
