Cops seek info in case of boy killed by stray shot

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minneapolis Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding who fired the stray bullet that killed a 3-year-old boy.

Terrell Mayes was shot on Dec. 26 while inside his house — the victim of a stray bullet that had been fired from outside. Police have been chasing down leads to find out who is responsible.

Police and Crime Stoppers announced Friday that a reward of up to $7,000 will be given for information that’s vital to solving the case.

Police and volunteers also spent Friday afternoon handing out fliers in a four-block radius around Terrell’s home. The fliers have Terrell’s picture, and say “3 is too young to die.”

Anyone with information is asked to call (800) 222-TIPS. Tips can remain anonymous.
