Coon Valley hosts 3rd annual Tenkara Fest
COON VALLEY, Wis. (WKBT) — The chilly weather Sunday did not stop sportsmen from getting into the fishing spirit.
Coon Valley played host to the annual Midwest Tenkara Fest Sunday afternoon.
Tenkara is a form of fly fishing that developed in Japan and is becoming more popular in the U.S.
Vendors set up at the American Legion Hall offering gear, tips, and advice.
Matt Sment, event organizer for the Midwest Tenkara festival said the streams in the area are suited to Tenkara and they are glad to share the region with others.
“We are blessed to have an amazing system of clean cold water streams here in Wisconsin, which makes it very important for us to take action to preserve these streams,” Sment said.
This is the third year Coon Valley hosted the event. About 75 people attended the event.
