Construction underway for temporary stage in La Crosse’s Riverside Park
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Construction is underway for a temporary stage in La Crosse’s Riverside Park.
The stage is needed due to construction on the existing Bandstand and new bandshell in the Park.
The temporary stage will be used for Moon Tunes, La Crosse Concert Band and La Crosse Jazz Orchestra performances throughout the summer.
The first concert will be this Thursday when Bill Miller takes the stage for Moon Tunes.
Materials used to make the stage will benefit the community well beyond this summer.
“We’re going to donate the lumber to the Habitat for Humanity, so the 60 sheets of plywood can be used for subflooring or roofing sheeting, there’s a lot of two by fours that can be used in some construction,” said Bandshell Consortium Co-Chair Terry Bauer.
The renovated bandstand along with the new bandshell is scheduled to be completed in September.
