Conference prepares professionals to help dying individuals

Preparing for death is bringing medical professionals together in the La Crosse area.

The International Death, Grief and Bereavement Conference started at UW-La Crosse today.

The aim of the event is to provide better ways to help people that are dying and their families.

While it’s not an easy conversation to have organizers say it’s an important one.

“If you talk about it, you can do a better job, be more able to manage it. And we talk the topic of resilience, one of the things we talk about is meaning making, making sense out of the death,” said Gerry Cox, UW-La Crosse Professor Emeritus.

This is the 16th year the conference has been hosted at UW-La Crosse.
