Community Development Week to celebrate projects in La Crosse

La Crosse will soon be celebrating Community Development Week.

Next week’s events will honor the contributions that the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Block Grants have made in our community.

The grants are federal dollars awarded to cities to help improve the quality of life for low and moderate income households.

The city of La Crosse receives approximately $1 million per year.

“A good example is we’re doing a celebration at Poage Park, we completely redid that park in 2014, with the help of city funding and these HUD funds,” said Caroline Gregerson, Community Development Administrator for the City of La Crosse.

There are several events planned for the Community Development Week Celebrations beginning on May 8th.

A Family Fun Night at Poage Park on La Crosse’s south side starts at 4:30 p.m. with free hot dogs, games, and activities.

For a list of all events throughout the city, go to the City of La Crosse’s website.
