Community Crops efforts provide seedlings to families in La Crosse area
GROW volunteers are distributing the plants this week.
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A hands on learning experience could plant the seed for a better future for some area kids.
GROW is launching the Community Crops Project this week.
Free plant seedlings are being handed out all this week at the School District of La Crosse’s free meal sites.
The hope is to give area families more than just knowledge.
“We actually have a handout that we give with them and it gives transplant tips of how they can continue to grow the plants at home and then eventually eat them and have more food and become more sustainable,” said Haley Barta with GROW La Crosse.
Details on the effort is available from the La Crosse County extension office at (608) 785-9593.
