Community bike sharing program coming to La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A new transportation option is coming to La Crosse.
This spring the city is rolling out community bike-sharing stations.
They will be installed in multiple city parks.
For a small fee, people can rent one for the day, and return them to any of the stations.
The program is under a two-year trial period.
It’s being paid for by donations and sponsorships and will be maintained with rental fees.
“The big benefit is it allows people who either A: don’t have a bike or B: don’t have a bike in the vicinity,” said Jay Odegaard, Director of Parks, Recreation, & Forestry.
Board members say this will be a great opportunity for the community.
