Coming up this weekend: WI DNR hosts two days of free fishing
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – If you’re looking for a reason to dust off those old fishing rods, or just spend a day outdoors learning something new, you’re in luck.
The Wisconsin DNR is hosting two days of free fishing this weekend, January 16th and 17th.
But before you drill a hole into the ice, there are some things you should keep in mind that are different from past years due to the pandemic.
Despite being an outdoor activity, remember that you can still get infected with COVID if you’re in close contact with others.
It might be tempting to huddle up in your shanty with friends and family to keep warm, but this winter you’ll want to limit the number of people you’re with and maintain social distancing.
It’s also a good idea to wear a face-covering around others.
Usually, this might feel like a hassle, but out on the ice, the extra layer will feel really nice.
Also, remember to keep an eye on the ice conditions before heading out, because they can change quickly.
You can learn more about ice safety by checking out the DNR’s website.
