Cold Tonight… and Another Chilly Day Thursday
Chance Of Snow This Weekend
Tonight’s Forecast Low: 2F / Thursday’s Forecast High: 24F…
Even with some sunshine today, it was a cold day with highs only in the upper teens to low 20s. Wind chills were in the single digits for much of the day.
Tonight will be another cold night with a clear to partly cloudy sky. Expect overnight/early morning lows in the single digits above and below zero. Coldest readings will be north and east of La Crosse, but some of the coulees and valleys could drop below zero as well.
It’s going to be another chilly day for our Thursday, with partly cloudy skies. Expect highs in the low-mid 20s with a SE wind around 5-10 mph. Clouds increase late Thursday night, setting the stage for a mostly cloudy, but dry Friday. High temps Friday will be in the mid-upper 20s.
Looking Ahead… We continue to track a storm system that could bring some snow to our area over the weekend. As of Wednesday evening, the exact track is still in question, which is common with the storm still being about 60-72 hours out from impacting our area. With that said, the chance for snow looks to be greatest later in the day on Saturday and into Saturday night. The snow could linger through about midday Sunday as well. It’s too early to say just how much snow could fall across our viewing area, so you’ll want to stay tuned for updates over the next couple of days… especially if you have travel plans this weekend.
Monday and Tuesday (Groundhog Day) are looking dry at this point, with mostly cloudy skies Monday… then partly sunny on Tuesday. Highs will be seasonable with readings in the upper 20s to around 30F. Another system could bring some snow or wintry mix later Wednesday into Thursday, with highs in the low-mid 30s.
Be sure to bundle up if you’ll be out and about this evening… and have a good night! -Bill Graul
