Coffee shop opening inside Coulee Recovery Center
Vernon Area Rehabilitation Center opening 'The Good Bean' on Monday, Oct. 19
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A coffee shop is opening very soon to help those going through recovery.
Vernon Area Rehabilitation Center — or VARC — is opening ‘The Good Bean’ inside the Coulee Recovery Center starting Monday.
It was originally set to open in April, but COVID forced the opening to be delayed.
The cafe provides a job opportunity for those in recovery to help get them back on the right track.
“People that are going through recovery, they’re at their own path and they’re finding their own way,” recovery cafe supervisor Michelle McKinley said. “And this gives them a purpose. It gives them a place to come to and take ownership, and learn those skills that are needed to move on to their next steps of employment.”
The cafe offers Starbucks coffee and other snacks.
Once it opens at full capacity, they are hoping to offer small bakery items.
