Cloudy Periods For Many Today… But Seasonable Temps
Small Chance Of Showers Friday Afternoon
Thursday’s Forecast High: 73F / Tonight’s Low: 58F…
What a gorgeous Wednesday it was with lots of sunshine and warmer than average highs well into the 70s. A couple spots even hit 80F, like Black River Falls and Eau Claire. We were close in La Crosse with a high of 79F.
Clouds will drift back across the region today from south to north. They should thin and break up a bit as they do, so some spots will still see some sun at times… especially across northern section of the viewing area.
Even with the clouds today, it will be dry with seasonable highs ranging from the upper 60s (south) to the mid 70s (north). The average high in La Crosse for today is 72F.
Mostly cloudy tonight with lows mainly in the 50s. Mostly cloudy conditions will persist Friday. A boundary will slowly approach from the west and could cause a few isolated showers or sprinkles in spots during the afternoon. Highs Friday will be in the low-mid 70s in most areas.
Looking Ahead… An area of low pressure will spin into the region from the southwest Friday night and Saturday, increasing the chance for scattered showers and t-storms. A cool front will then move in from the west Sunday, bringing more scattered showers and t-storms. I don’t think these will be “all day” rains, but definitely have that rain gear handy this weekend if you have outdoor plans. Expect highs in the mid 70s Saturday, then low 80s on Sunday.
The chance for showers and t-storms will likely linger into Memorial Day Monday as the cool front sweeps east across the region. Expect highs in the upper 70s.
Forecast models are at odds on any rain chances through the rest of the week. Some models have the rain staying to our south or west, others have rain chances across our area every day. So for now I’m just going to broad-brush low end rain chances each day, but we could easily squeeze in a dry day or two. Not to mention, even if we do see rain each day… there will be plenty of dry hours. Temps should remain above average with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
Have a good Thursday! -Bill Graul
