Clean Your Block Party makes La Crosse more welcoming

Downtown Mainstreet Incorporated got teams together on Saturday to clean up downtown La Crosse during the Clean Your Block Party.

Teams were given vests, gloves, bags and snacks and then sent to eight zones to clean up the area and pick up trash.

Rachel Hundt, the marketing and events coordinator for Downtown Mainstreet, said tourism is important for La Crosse, and keeping streets and sidewalks clean helps make the city more welcoming to visitors.

“It helps make our downtown more beautiful. . . . All the leftover stuff that is there from when all the snow melted is kind of an eye-sore. You’re able to get out, get moving, get walking around, which is always good for you, and pick up downtown at the same time,” said Hundt.

The first 30 volunteers who registered were given Clean Your Block Party t-shirts.
