Children’s Museum of La Crosse celebrates 100 years of Tinkertoys

Museum hosting 5 month long exhibit

One of your favorite toys growing up is hitting the century mark.

Tinkertoys turn 100 years old this year. To celebrate the Children’s Museum of La Crosse is hosting a 5 month long Tinkertoy exhibit. It kicks off this Saturday. The 1,5000 square foot “Build Your Imagination” exhibit includes giant replicas of the classic tinker toy construction sets.

Organizers say it’s a chance for kids to turn their imagination into an opportunity to learn.

“I’m hoping that it will spark that creativity or what can I create or what  can I event because it’s all about invention. Children once they really get the loose parts and the tools can really use their imaginations and come up with a  lot of wonderful things,” said executive director Anne Snow.

The Tinkertoy exhibit will be around until the end of may. The exhibit is included with regular museum admission or membership.
