Change of plans for annual Polar Plunge
The Polar Plunge fundraiser... will instead take place as a tubing event at Fort McCoy at the end of February
LA CROSSE, Wis (WKBT) – A popular cold water tradition will look a little bit different this year.
The Polar Plunge fundraiser, will instead take place as a tubing event at Fort McCoy on Sunday February, 28th.
With this change, the annual Special Olympics fundraiser can take place in a way that’s fun and socially distant.
You can sign up by yourself or with a team like in past years in order to raise the 75 dollars to register for the event.
“Instead of jumping into the river, you can still stay freezing, but we’re gonna be dry this time instead,” said Kourtni Alcock, a member of the Polar Plunge Committee.
There also may be an alternative “Solar plunge” taking place in the summer.
