Chance of Scattered Showers & Isolated Thunder Tonight -Bill Graul
Rather Wet Weekend in Store
Tonight’s Forecast Low: 46F / Friday’s Forecast High: 64F…
A frontal boundary remains stalled to our south, dividing much warmer air south of it from cooler air to the north. A weak disturbance is tracking east to the north of that boundary and will bring the chance for scattered showers and isolated thunder later this evening into part of the overnight.
Otherwise, expect mostly cloudy skies tonight and it won’t be as chilly as the past couple nights. Expect lows in the 40s for most areas, perhaps some upper 30s in parts of Clark and Monroe counties.
Mostly cloudy, but warmer Friday with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s. Expect breeze SE winds as well around 10-20 mph, with gusts around 30 mph possible. The bulk of the Friday looks dry, then showers and t-storms will move into our area later Friday night as another potent area of low-pressure lifts into the region. Periods of showers and t-storms will persist on Saturday, but we could get some dry time in-between rounds of rain. Expect highs on Saturday in the upper 50s to low 60s, with breezy conditions as well.
There is also an outside chance for a few strong to isolated severe storms on Saturday, mainly south/east of La Crosse. The local timing looks to be during the midday and afternoon hours. It’s a rather conditional risk (not a slam dunk), but something to keep an eye on.
Rainfall totals could be around or exceeding .50″ in many areas by Saturday evening… with the chance for more rain Saturday night. Showers will also likely linger into Sunday, especially through about midday. Highs on Sunday will cool into the low-mid 50s.
Looking Ahead... Mostly cloudy Monday, but dry. Forecast models are struggling a bit with whether or not there will be rain chances next Tuesday through Thursday. For now, I’m just going to broad-brush at least a slight chance of showers from Monday night through Thursday… but know there will be plenty of dry time as well. Temps will remain cooler than average, with highs generally in the 55-60F range and overnight lows in the upper 30s to low-mid 40s. Have a good Thursday night! -Bill Graul
