‘Chain of Kindness’ sweeps through La Crescent

LA CRESCENT, Minn (WKBT) – As part of Minnesota United Acts of Kindness Week, Great Rivers United Way is spearheading some not-so-random acts of kindness in Houston County.
The chain of kindness returned to La Crescent today when United Way will again be delivering apples, this time donated by Bauer’s Market, to all staff in the public schools.
Teachers had the students make kindness cards for the construction workers, custodians, and cafeteria staff who are working extremely hard to keep the school running during this time.
“When you start to do something nice for someone else and they, in turn, do it for someone else. it just creates this chain of kindness, and we start to think about the positives in the people that we live with and our communities, and that just makes us all better in the long run,” said Julie Nelson, the Community Engagement Coordinator at Great Rivers United Way.
Anyone performing an act of kindness during the week is encouraged to take a picture or a video of the act and post it online using #HoustonCoKindness
