Central hopes hoops success carries to softball diamond
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A few weeks ago, the Central girls basketball team made it all the way to state. Now as the spring sports season begins, can the softball team pick up where the basketball team left off?
There are many of the same players from the basketball team on the softball team this season. They say their success on the court absolutely will translate to the diamond.
“We just never really imagined we could, and so now that we did it, we have a lot more confidence,” senior Brooke Baldwin said. “So I think that will definitely carry over to softball in giving us that winning attitude”
Winning is nothing new for the Red Raiders; they’ve won four straight MVC titles. That’s the attitude Head Coach Kevin Colburn has preached from day one.
“We want to work hard and we want to win games, and one of our goals every year is to win the city championship, conference championship, regional championship and a sectional championship. That’s what we aim to do every year,” said Head Coach Kevin Colburn.
Central beat city rival Logan 8-2 Wednesday afternoon.
