Central basketball says defense ‘way better’ since first loss to Onalaska
The second installment of Division 2 basketball between Onalaska and Central is less than a day away, and the Red Raiders are eyeing revenge as they prepare to host the Hilltoppers.
In the first matchup exactly one month ago, the top-ranked Hilltoppers used defense and clutch shooting to defend their home court and beat the Red Raiders by 12.
Central’s upperclassmen said Monday that the team has grown a lot since that loss, in part because they’ve played numerous nationally-ranked programs and found ways to win. Senior Terrance Thompson says one area has especially improved in the last 30 days.
“I think we’re a way better defensive team,” Thompson said. “We still have a ways to go. We have a lot of guys who have stepped up. We have a few underclassmen who have really showed they can play in the big game, so I think that’s a few of the things we’ve really improved on.”
Onalaska and Central tip off Tuesday night at 7:15 p.m.
