CDC offers guidance ahead of return to school for students

Students, teachers, and staff should stay home if they have symptoms of any infectious illness.

UNDATED (WKBT) – The CDC is weighing in on COVID-19 plans for K-12 schools.

The agency recommends anyone who is not fully vaccinated wear a masks inside school buildings unless the school is located in a community where spread is high or substantial.

The CDC says everyone in those schools regardless of vaccination status should where a mask.

Doctors with Mayo Clinic say using multiple strategies will help keep kids safe.

“Using these layered strategies of multiple things. Vaccination with masking, with hand-washing, with physical distance, really creates the safest environment,” Mayo Clinic Children’s Center pediatric infectious disease specialist Dr. Nipunie Rajapakse.
