Cashton Cupboard and Closet opens new location
Food pantry offers food to 150 local families
CASHTON, Wis. (WKBT) — A local food pantry has opened the doors to their new, permanent location.
The Cashton Cupboard and Closet broke ground for their new building in October.
The food pantry has been serving the Cashton area for about 5 years now. Each month the pantry helps feed about 150 local families.
After moving numerous times since starting their business, they say they’re happy to find a permanent home.
“This just means everything. We were moving from place to place for the past 5 years that we’ve been in existence and we just decided that we needed to have a permanent place where we wouldn’t have to move all the time,” said Cashton Cupboard and Closet Secretary Rose Eddy.
The pantry also has a thrift store that accepts new or lightly used household items. Every dollar spent at the thrift shop helps the food pantry keep up with their demand.
“It’s all things that people have had in their closets, their attics, their basements, and are willing to share it with the community because every dollar spent in here puts ten dollars worth of food on the shelves of the food pantry,” said Cashton Cupboard and Closet Volunteer Dorothy Peterson.
