“Cash for Classrooms” grant helps fund 2nd grader’s dream
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Some area classrooms are getting a holiday bonus this year, one of them being North Woods Elementary in La Crosse.
The school was awarded more than $240 dollars thanks to the program “Cash for Classrooms.”
The program put on Misty’s Dance Unlimited and Coulee Parenting Connection helps fund classroom initiatives.
This year, second grader Johanna Hall, with the help of her teacher, applied for funding for sign language tools in her classroom.
Hall, who is deaf, says this is a way for people who only know sign language to communicate with their friends.
“They would appreciate it if they would have sign language materials so they could understand anybody’s saying,” said Hall.
North Woods Elementary is one of 30 area classrooms to benefit from the program this year.
