Canadian Pacific gifts $20,000 to Winona Health
WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) — Canadian Pacific Railway proved it has heart by donating $20,000 to Winona Health’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program, the Minnesota hospital announced Monday.
The gift — part of the railway’s “CP Has Heart” program — will benefit patients participating in Winona Health’s phase II program.
“At CP, we know that a railroad may serve as the arteries of a nation, but at its heart is community,” said Shawn Duce, Roadmaster, River Subdivision. “That’s why investing in the communities in which we operate in and through is so important to us. Through our community investment program CP Has Heart, CP has donated $20,000 towards the purchase of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation monitors which will ensure recovering patients have the very best cardiac equipment at Winona Health.”
Winona Health’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation professionals monitor an average of 80 to 100 rehabilitation visits per week, and adds more than 100 new patients to its care annually. More than half of their patients are referred from specialty providers in Rochester, La Crosse and Madison, which allows for individuals to receive rehabilitation care close to home. This includes patients with diagnoses including angina, congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction (heart attack), coronary angioplasty and open-heart surgeries as well as emphysema and restrictive lung diseases.
Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program manager Lynn Sprain said, “We have a strong team of rehabilitation specialists here at Winona Health, and this generous gift from Canadian Pacific will enhance our ability to more efficiently care for our clients. Technology changes quickly, and it is expensive. This is a very welcomed gift that will benefit our patients and our community now and for years to come.”
A nationally certified program, Winona Health’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation professionals provide each person with individualized rehabilitative care, assuring a safe progression of exercise.
