Caledonia thriving early in road-heavy schedule

Caledonia boys basketball is now ranked atop the Class 2A polls after an 11-0 start that includes two wins over opponents ranked in the top 3.

What’s also impressive is 10 of those 11 games have been on the road. That might sound a little grueling, but the team has enjoyed this road warrior stretch because of what they’ve been able to learn about themselves.

“It’s been a lot of fun just getting to play against really good basketball teams,” senior guard Noah King said. “I think it’s prepared us and is preparing us for the postseason, which is why we schedule nonconference schedule like this. We’ve played a couple close games because of it that we usually wouldn’t get to play if we didn’t have those games. We’ve gotten to practice some situations in-game that we otherwise wouldn’t get to. That’s helped us too, and we’re better because of it.”

Caledonia takes its perfect record into Dover-Eyota tonight at 7:30.
