Caledonia advances to Class 2A state title game
Caledonia boys basketball defeated Minneapolis North 60-55 at the Target Center Wednesday afternoon to advance to Saturday’s Class 2A state title game.
Caledonia led by 11 points with seven minutes left to play, but North got to within two thanks to some full-court pressure that generated turnovers.
Andrew Kunelius and Sam Privet sealed the win with free throws in the final minute.
Both offenses worked the paint to get most of their points, as neither team shot well from three-point range. Caledonia went 3 of 11, while North was just 1 of 18.
Austin Klug finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and four steals to lead the Warriors, with Jackson Koepke adding 13 points. Ja’Shon Simpson added 11 points and shot 5 of 7 from the floor.
Caledonia will play Saturday in its first state title game since 2018 and hope to win its first title since 1997.
