Caleb Wagner on joining 1,000 point club: ‘It’s an honor’
Winona State men’s basketball has one senior on this year’s roster in guard Caleb Wagner. He’s literally in a class all by himself. After his efforts over the weekend, though, he’s now part of a class of 38.
Wagner scored his 1,000th career point in a Warrior uniform in a win Saturday afternoon, and he is just the 38th player in program history to reach the mark.
“Not getting that 1,000 in high school, it meant a lot to me to get it in college,” Wagner said. “Hopefully I just keep it rolling, keep moving forward with it.”
“He’s somebody that came in here and earned everything he’s been given,” head coach Todd Eisner said. “He came in here his freshman year and didn’t play a lot, so really in the grand scheme of things, he’s done this now in about two and a half years.”
Wagner is averaging 17.4 points per game for the Warriors. The team next plays Upper Iowa on Saturday.
