Busing route changes coming to La Crosse School District

Changes come after months of complaints

Some long-demanded changes are coming to La Crosse’s First Student busing routes.

After a few months of complaints following a number of changes to both routes and drivers, First Student is reverting back to its old routing system. Postcards with information about the route changes were sent out to parents on the Nov. 9.

This information was released from First Student:

Re-implementing old routes on November 23
All students eligible for transportation have been routed. If your child does not intend to utilize our transportation service, please contact us so that we can update our database. You also can reschedule transportation in the future.
Beginning December 14, students who have not rode the bus will be unscheduled, meaning the bus will no longer stop at the designated stop if no student boards there. If your child does not ride the bus between November 23 and December 11, but should not be unscheduled, please contact us.
As students are unscheduled and new students are added to routes, pick-up/drop-off times will shift. If shifts are more than 15 minutes, we will communicate the specific change to you. Students attending choice/charter schools
Students attending choice/charter schools outside their boundary school must be manually routed. Because there are multiple pick-up/drop-off locations, we need parents to tell us where your child intends to be picked up and dropped off. Choice/charter transportation guidelines can be found on the district’s website under > Parents > Transportation > Scheduling Transportation. Here is a direct link to the transportation request form.
Dedicated special-education routes are customized for the students. Phone calls are being made to parents to confirm stop times.
The district will begin a process to upload transportation pick-up/drop-off times, location, and bus numbers into Skyward Family Access. This will be take place soon.
